MTB/Cyclo Cross

Bournemouth Jubilee Cross, Sunday 26th

Tim Dunford (Hargroves Cycles/Trant/Scott) tore the field apart in the Bournemouth Jubilee Wheelers Cyclo-Cross event at the Canford Park Arena.

Dunford rode 12 laps on his way to victory in the shortened course, to win from team mate Matt MacDonald who in turn took the sprint for second from Sean Williams (Wightlink RT). With the leaders lapping around the 4 minute mark, it was no surprise to see only the top four riders on the same lap as Dunford.

Getting racing back at the Canford Park Arena is a big achievement for the Jubilee with the last event held in the year 2000. On that occasion, Nigel Parkinson (Bournemouth Jubilee) took third and it was also fitting that he rode again on Sunday riding at a somewhat more leisurely pace to record 50th on the day.

With 67 riders taking the start line, a record for this event, other positions included: 10th Martin Tuckey (DRR), 21st Jon Hayes, 28 Stuart King (both ridebike.co.uk), 30th Mark Hardwick (BACC), 35th Rob Gray (DRR), 39th Dave Pickering (BJW), 49th Michael Marran (ridebike.co.uk), 59th Lauren Barber (BJW), 64th John Burrows (Poole Wheelers).

In the under 12’s event, Lucy Burrows (Poole Wheelers) and Rebecca Hurst (Poole Wheelers) finished a creditable 5th and 9th places behind the winner Jack Phillips (Chapel Tri Stars).
